Based on our expertise in impedance spectroscopy, Bio-Logic has developed the MCS 10, a unique integration of a frequency response analyzer and a temperature control unit, enabling mutli-sampling at various temperatures.
The MCS 10 is a fully integrated conductivity system dedicated to electrolytic conductivity measurements from 2 μS cm-1 to 0.2 S cm-1.
The main applications are the determination of the conductivity of ionic liquids, aqueous and organic electrolytes in a wide range of temperature (-40 °C to +150 °C). It can also help to find the liquid usability temperature range, and the phase transition liquid-solid temperature.
The MCS 10 consists of three integrated components:
- MCM 10: 10 Channel Multiplexed Conductivity Meter
- WTSH 10: Wide Temperature Sample Holder with ten slots
- HTCC: High Temperature Conductivity Cells
Multichannel conductivity meter with integrated Frequency Response Analyzer (MCM 10)
MCM 10 is a multichannel conductivity measurement device based on an FRA impedance analyzer.
It runs frequency scans from 50 kHz to 100 Hz at each conductivity measurement point. The MCM 10 integrates the cell calibration procedure and 10 channels are available for fast, sequential measures. MCM 10 provides continuous conductivity measures during the entire experiment cleared from artefacts caused by electrode polarization or cable inductance. The MCM 10 continuously scans the samples and selects the optimal frequency for conductivity measurement.
The acquired Nyquist and Bode spectra can be retrieved for further analysis using EC-Lab or MT-Lab software.
Temperature control unit with multi-sample holder for HTCC cells (WTSH 10)
WTSH 10 is a Peltier based temperature control unit using the thermoelectric effect for heating or cooling an aluminum base hosting ten cells.
The temperature of the aluminum base is recorded using a PT-1000 temperature probe. Superior thermal insulation of the WTSH 10 optimizes the heating and the cooling processes in the temperature range -40 °C to +150 °C to keep power consumption below 200 W.
Sample temperature in the range -40 °C to +150 °C is controlled with a high accuracy level of +/-0.2 °C. Temperature homogeneity for all samples stays within +/-0.2 °C due to the tight confinement of the cells in the aluminum base, which ensures a rapid thermal transfer.
